Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd (HAL) is a wholly owned Central Government of India undertaking engaged in the Manufacturing and Marketing of Life Saving Drugs. HAL is the first drug manufacturing company to be set up in the public sector by Government of India in the year 1954 with active co-operation of WHO and UNICEF. It was the first company in India to launch recombinant DNA product, rHU-Erythropoietin (Hemax) in 1993. The company introduced new products like Halpen, Haltax, Hexpan in 2008. Sati-HIV drugs will be produced from September 2009.
