Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG)

Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), established in 1968 is an autonomous research Institute of the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. Previously named as the Institute of Himalayan Geology, it was renamed as the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology in memory of its founder-the late Prof. D.N. Wadia. In the last 40 years the Institute, while continuously striving to unravel the geological truth related to building of the majestic Himalaya, has grown into a centre of excellence and is internationally recognised as an Institute dedicated to research in Himalayan geology with well equipped laboratories and other infrastructural facilities for undertaking advance level of research in the country. The Institute at present has on its roll 64 scientists, several research students along with administration and supporting technical staff

Scientist C
Number of Vacancies : 04 posts
Pay Scale : Rs.15600-39100/- + Grade pay: Rs.6600/-
Qualifications : Ph.D. in any area of the Earth Sciences with first class at Preceding degree, preferably in Glaciology, with four years post doctoral experience in the field of Glaciology
with good academic record & publications in reputed journals.
Age limit : 40 years

Stenographer Grade-I
Number of Vacancies : 01 post
Pay Scale : Rs.9300–34800  Grade Pay 4200/-,
Qualifications : A graduate in Science/Arts/Commerce from a recognized University with good academic record. Proficiency in English Typewriting as well as Stenography. Minimum 5 years experience as a Stenographer in any Govt. organization/University/Autonomous organization/
Undertaking institution
Age limit : 30 years

Research Associate
Number of vacancies : 06 Post
Emoluments : Rs. 16000/-
Qualifications : First Class M.Sc./M.Tech Geology/Chemistry/Hydrology/Meteorology/Geophysics/ Physics with Ph.D in the area of Glaciology or atmospheric sciences.
Age limit  : 35 years

Junior Research Fellow
Number of Vacancies : 06 Post
Emoluments : Rs.12000/-  during the first and second year and Rs.14000/- p.m. consolidated plus admissible HRA
Qualifications : First Class M.Sc./M.Tech. in Geology/Glaciology/Hydrology/Meteorology/Geophysics/Physics/Chemistry.
Age Limit: 28 years
