Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG)

Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), established in 1968 is an autonomous research Institute of the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. Previously named as the Institute of Himalayan Geology, it was renamed as the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology in memory of its founder-the late Prof. D.N. Wadia. In the last 40 years the Institute, while continuously striving to unravel the geological truth related to building of the majestic Himalaya, has grown into a centre of excellence and is internationally recognised as an Institute dedicated to research in Himalayan geology with well equipped laboratories and other infrastructural facilities for undertaking advance level of research in the country. The Institute at present has on its roll 64 scientists, several research students along with administration and supporting technical staff

Stenographer Gr. II
No. of Vacancies : 01 Post
Pay Scale : Rs 9,300-34,800 + GP 4,200/-
Qualifications: Graduate of a recognized University or equivalent and possessing a speed of 120 w.p.m. in English shorthand and 40 w.p.m. in typing
Age limit : Below 28 years

Stenographer Gr. III
No. of Vacancies : 01 Post
Pay Scale : Rs 5,200-20,200 + GP 2,800/-
Qualifications : 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized Board/Institution/University. Speed of 80 w.p.m. in English shorthand and 30 w.p.m. in typing
Age limit : Below 28 years

Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology invites applications for the following posts:

Project Assistant
Number of Vacancies : 02 (Two) Posts
Pay Scale: Rs.8000/- PM (Consolidated).
Qualification: M.Sc. Physics or B.Sc. with minimum 1st or high 2nd class (with Physics as one of the subject)/ Diploma in Electronics/Electrical & Communication. The working knowledge of computer/Geophysical instrument will be additive qualification. The position of Project Assistant is for MPGO-Ghuttu, Distt: Tehri Garhwal and the candidate selected will be posted there.
Age Limit: 28 Years
Application Fee: Fee of Rs. 150/- through postal order or bank draft in favour of Registrar General, High Court of Uttarakhand at Nainital.

Scientist ‘D’
Pay Scale: PB – 3 Rs. 15,600-39,100 + Grade Pay Rs. 7,600.00
Age: Max 45 years as on 31.03.2011
Qualifications:
Doctorate degree in the relevant field with eight years post doctoral experience with adequate evidence of research publications of merit and leadership in the areas of palaeontology/micropalaeontology , sedimentology, structure & tectonics and stable isotope geochemistry. The candidates with demonstrated experience in maintaining / operating stable isotope mass spectrometer or any other modern analytical geoscience laboratories will be given preference.

Scientist ‘C’
Pay Scale: PB-3 Rs.15,600-39,100 + Grade Pay Rs. 6,600.00
Age: Max 40 years as on 31.03.2011
Qualification:
Ph.D. degree in the relevant field with four years research experience at post-doctorate level in the areas of structure & tectonics, palaeontology/ micropalaeontology, paleobotany, sedimentology and glaciology, as evidenced by research publications of merit.

Pay Scale: PB-3 Rs. 15,600-39,100 + Grade Pay Rs.5,400.00
Age: Max 35 years as on 31.03.2011
Qualification:
First class M.Sc. degree in Geology. Preference will be given to the candidates with experience in any one or more of the fields listed above for the post of Scientist ‘C’.
