The Assam Rifles raised as Cachar Levy in 1835 is the oldest Central Para Military Force in India. The Force was raised mainly to guard the alluvial plains of Assam from the wild and unruly tribes inhabiting the surrounding hill tracts. This was the earliest embodied unit of what eventually developed into the Assam Rifles. There are currently 46 battalions of Assam Rifles under the control of the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and they perform many roles including the provision of internal security under the control of the army through the conduct of counter insurgency and border security operations, provision of aid to the civil power in times of emergency, and the provision of communications, medical assistance and education in remote areas.
Assam Rifles recruitment for the posts as mentioned below. Assam Rifles recruitment rally will be held at Dimapur (Nagaland) and Guwahati (Assam ) from 14 Sep 2011 onwards for enrolment of male candidates from following states for the posts mentioned against each :-

Candidates shall forward their applications as per the attached format to the address mentioned below along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 50/- (Rupees fifty only) and self addressed registered envelope in favour of the Directorate General Assam Rifles payable at SBI DGAR, Shillong, Code No. 7338 so as to reach this Directorate on or before 04 Aug 2011. SC and ST candidates are exempted from application fee. No cash/postal order will be accepted.
