English: Any Non Technical Graduate or Post Graduates

German: B2+ German language level completion from recognized institution Any Graduate or Post Graduates

Experience: 1 to 6 years in Copy Editing (English / German)
Skills: Good command over English, Microsoft Word Knowledge.

Job Description:

CE Level 1

1. Style and mark up the document as per specification

2. Identify and put header in correct sequence. Mark up heading levels using proper capitalization.

3. Style and mark up names, addresses, abstract, keyword, tables, table legends and equations.

4. Check if all the references cited in the text have been included in the reference list and vice versa. Check journal abbreviations and style reference list.

5. Check placement and citation of figures and tables.

6. Check proper usage of spaces, quotation marks, dashes and correct usage of numbers and units.

7. Raise queries to the author regarding style, references etc and incorporate changes accordingly.

8. Carry out spell check using Word based tools.

CE Level 2

1. Making electronic files conform to an editorial style (house style).

2. Copy editing of manuscripts in order to check and improve upon the language, flow, and presentation.

3. Checking the consistency of text, spelling, hyphenation etc in the manuscripts.

4. Correct errors or lapses in grammar, syntax, usage, and diction.

5. Correct misused words or incorrect literal translations from foreign languages.

6. Check and edit content in for capitalization, abbreviations, numbers, special types.

7. Devote special attention to verify cross-references that appear in text, specifying the placement of tables and illustrations.

8. Checking the content of the illustrations against the captions and against the text.

9. Call to author’s attention any internal inconsistencies or discrepancies in content as well as any structural and organizational problem.
