Indian Navy

The Indian Navy (Devanagari: ?????? ?? ????, Bharatiya Nau Sena) is the naval branch of the armed forces of India. The Indian Navy currently has around 170 major vessels in commission, including the aircraft carrier INS Viraat, along with operational jet fighters. Though the primary objective of the navy is to secure national maritime borders, India also uses its navy to enhance its international relations through joint exercises, port visits and humanitarian missions, including disaster relief.

Applications are invited from unmarried male and female candidates for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Executive Branch (General Services) and Technical Branches of the Indian Navy for Jul 2012 Course at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala. Candidates to fulfill conditions of nationality as laid down by the Government of India.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
Age : Between 19 & 1/2 to 25 years for Technical General Service /Submarine Cadre and Executive (GS) Cadre , Between  21 and 25 years for Naval Architecture Cadre
Educational Qualifications. Four years BE/B. Tech Engineering Degree qualified with minimum 60% marks in aggregate from a recognised university
Physical Standard : The candidates should not be colour/night blind & must be physically fit according to following physical standards: Height and Weight. Minimum height for male -157 cms and for female - 152 cms with correlated weight.
Pay Scale : PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 Grade Pay Rs.5400 and MSP Rs.6000SSC : Short Service Commission is granted for a term of 10 years, extendable to 14 years, subject to service requirements and performance/willingness of the candidate.
