Programme Area: Research, Monitoring & Evaluation

Period of Performance: June to November 2012 (15 hours per week - 5 hours per day for 3 days per week)

Supervisors: Programme Manager  -  Enock Banda, Research, Monitoring & Evaluation

Background and Objectives

The Regional AIDS Training Network (RATN) is an international non-profit organisation with operations in Eastern & Southern Africa (ESA) region. 

RATN represents a consortium of training institutions who collaborate on training activities related to STIs/HIV/AIDS in the region and whose mission is to strengthen the capacity of relevant individuals, organisations and other stakeholders to effectively respond to STIs/HIV/AIDS.  Currently RATN has 33 institutions that are full members spread across 11 countries in ESA region.

RATN is seeking for a fresh graduate student, to work in the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation unit.

Scope of Work – Monitoring & Evaluation Intern
 

To gain experience in how to work with M&E data, perform basic data analysis and how to review and produce reports for an International NGOReview M&E data and reports and prepare feedback on the data and reportsEnter all M&E data into spreadsheets and or databasesPrepare basic reports from the spreadsheets and databasesConduct alumni follow up and analyse alumni follow up data and produce reportsAny other duties that may be assignedBachelors Degree in Statistics, Public Health, Social Sciences or its equivalentExperienced in conducting statistical analysis using statistical software (SPSS preferable).Experienced in preparing and formatting graphs and tables using MS Office applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).Proficient in written communications.The ability to work independently and take initiative.Willingness to learn and collaborate with others.Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Excellent oral and written English language skills.Experience living/working in a culturally diverse environment.(2) cover letter demonstrating qualification and interest for the position

Scale of Pay: Pre-revised of Rs.14,300-18,300 (Revised to Rs.37,400-67,000 + Grade Pay of Rs.8,700 in PB-4).

Educational Qualification:
1. Master’s Degree in Economics / Commerce / Statistics / Operations Research / Business Administration from a recognized university or equivalent.
2. 12 years’ experience in research / development / planning / execution / evaluation / monitoring of projects/programmes.

Desirable Qualification:
1. Doctorate degree in the concerned field.
2. Knowledge of/or experience in modern research methadology,survey method,sampling techniques.
3. Experience of organising/conducting/guiding research,writing research reports etc,as evidenced by publications.

Age Limit: The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation shall not be exceeding 56 years of age as on the closing date of receipt of the applications.
