Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT)

The Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) set up in 1954 is the only national center in the country where research in all disciplines relating to fishing and fish processing is undertaken. The institute started functioning at Cochin in 1957.  Research centers function at Veraval (Gujarat), Visakhapatnam (AP), Burla (Orissa), Mumbai (Maharashtra).

Eligible candidates having the prescribed qualifications are invited to attend a Walk-in-Interview for appointment to the temporary posts of Research Officer and Research Assistant under the ICSSR funded Project on ‘Assessment of Sustainable Livelihood Interventions and Entrepreneurial Skills among Coastal Women Self Help Groups using Participatory Methodologies’. The project involves frequent tours and extensive field visits within Kerala.

The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) established by the Government of India under the Ministry of Agriculture in 1947 became a member of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) family in 1967. Qualification : MFSc/MSc in Marine Biology / Fisheries/ Industrial Fisheries. Candidate must have knowledge in identification and cataloguing of planktons, marine organism, gut content analysis and bio optical studies. The person must be willing to go to sea frequently for sampling in traditional canoes and boats. Desirable: Seagoing experience and knowledge in use of computer, satellite data processing and statistical analysis of data.
Duration of the Project : Up to March, 2012
Emoluments : Rs.12000/-
Age as on 31.07.2011 : Below 35 years for men and 40 years for women
