Punjab and Haryana High Court is a common High Court for both the States of Punjab and Haryana and Union territory of Chandigarh, in India. It is situated at Chandigarh, the capital of the States of Punjab and Haryana. The sanctioned strenghth of this High Court is 68 judges consisting of Chief Justice, 36 Permanent Judges and 31 Additional Judges. As on 6 February 2012, there are 43 Judges including the Chief Justice. There are 45 judges on the strength of the High Court besides Chief Justice.

Stenographer
Number of Vacancies : 20 Post (General-16, SC/ST/BC-02, Ex-Servicemen-01 and Physical Handicapped-01)
Pay Scale : Rs.10300-34800, Grade pay Rs. 4400/-
Qualifications : Degree of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science or equivalent thereto from a recognized University and proficiency in operation of computers (Word processing and Spread sheets). Candidates shall be required to take down dictation at the speed of 100 w.p.m. in English Shorthand and to transcribe the same on the computer at the speed of 20 w.p.m.

Pay Scale : Rs. 10300-34800 Plus Grade Pay Rs. 4400/-
Qualifications : No candidate shall be eligible to appear in the Competitive Examination unless he/she holds a degree of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science or equivalent thereto of a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks with Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu upto matric standard respectively. Knowledge of Urdu language would be considered as an additional qualification for Hindi and Punjabi translators.
Age limit : 18-27 years
