Mizoram University

Mizoram University was established on July 2, 2001, by the Mizoram University Act, 2000 of the Parliament of India. The University is the fruit of the Mizoram Accord between Mizo National Front and Government of India on 30 June 1986, which states that: It is open to the State to move the establishment of the separate University in the State in accordance with the prescribed procedure. Initially, the University had 7 academic departments inherited from NEHU, but now has a total of 18 academic departments and hopes to bring the number to a total of 27 departments within the current Xth  Plan. The University under NEHU functioned from various rented buildings in Aizawl for over two decades

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for two Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) and one Project Assistant (PA) for DBT, New Delhi funded Major Research Project on ‘Impact assessment of Jhuming on native plants and soil microbiota and restoration of sustainable jhum agro-ecosystem in Northeast India’. Duration of the project is 4 years.

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
No. of Vacancies : 02 Posts
Salary : Rs 16,000/- + 10% HRA for the 1st two years and Rs 18,000/- + 10% HRA afterwards, otherwise in the absence of NET/GATE qualification it shall be Rs 12000/- + 10% HRA for the first two years and Rs. 14000/- +10% HRA afterwards.
Qualifications : M.Sc. in Forestry / Botany/ Environmental Science/ Soil Science/ Biogeochemistry or related subjects. Persons having working experience in soil/plants are encouraged to apply.

Project Assistant (PA)
No. of Vacancies : 01 Post
Salary : Rs 8,000/- per month
Qualifications : B.Sc. with Science; however, higher qualifications will be preferred. Persons having experience in soil/plant analysis will be given priority over others
