National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NITR) (Hindi: ????????? ???????????? ???????, ???????), formerly known as the Regional Engineering College (REC), is one of the top premier national level institutions for technical education in India. NIT is a joint undertaking of the government of India and the government of Orissa. NIT Rourkela was established in 1961 under the able vision of the then Chief Minister of Orissa, Biju Patnaik.
