Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM)

The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) is a scientific institution based in India for expanding research in meteorology of the tropics in general with special reference to monsoon meteorology of India. IITM was established by the United Nations Development Programme as a Special Fund Project at Pune on 17 November 1962. It was a part of the India Meteorological Department. Initially called the Institute of Tropical Meteorology (ITM), the Government of India gave it an autonomous status with a new name as the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) on 1 April 1971. The institute functions under the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India.

The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, an autonomous research organization, fully devoted to cutting edge research in various aspects of climate science is looking for recruiting bright talented candidates of Indian origin to fill 20 Research Scientist positions, including one Scientist ‘D’ for Library, Information and Publication Division, 01 Scientist ‘D’/Engineer (Computer Engineer) for HPC and 01 Scientist ‘C’/Engineer (Mechanical) at this Institute.

Scientist E

Pay Scale : Rs. 37400-67000 Grade Pay Rs. 8700/-
Qualification : Master’s Degree or equivalent in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Geophysics or a Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university/ institution with good scientific standing and with at least 60% marks at Graduation or Post-Graduation level.

Scientist D
Number of Vacancies : 13 posts
Pay Scale : Rs.15600 – 39100, Grade Pay Rs. 7600/-
Qualification : A Master’s Degree or equivalent in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Geophysics or a Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university/ institution with good scientific standing and with at least 60% marks at Graduation or Post-Graduation level.

Scientist C
Number of Vacancies : 04 posts
Pay Scale : Rs. 15600-39100, Grade Pay Rs. 6600/-
Qualification : Master’s Degree or equivalent in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech. degree from a recognized  university/institution and with at least 60% marks at Graduation or Post-Graduation level.
