G. B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development was established in August 1988, at Kosi-Katarmal, Almora, as an autonomous institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. The Institute is identified as a focal agency, to advance scientific knowledge, to evolve integrated management strategies, demonstrate their efficacy for conservation of natural resources and to ensure environmentally sound development in the entire Indian Himalayan Region (IHR).
Applications are invited for purely project based temporary positions under DST funded project entitled “Threat Assessment and Conservation of Himalayan Silver Birch (Betula utilis D. Don): A Keystone Species in Timberline Zone Of Central Himalaya, Uttarakhand”. Candidates having appropriate qualifications in relevant subject/specialization with consistently good academic records and experience may apply.
Research Associate

Qualification : Ph. D degree in Botany/Forestry /Environmental Science with first class or 55% marks in master degree
Age limit : 35 years
Project Fellow
Number of Vacancies : 01 Post
Pay Scale : Rs. 14,000 pm+ HRA.
Qualification : First class master degree in Botany/ Forestry /Environmental Science.
Age limit : 28 years
Field Assistant
Number of Vacancies : 01 Post
Pay Scale : Rs. 7,000 pm fixed
Qualification : High School with second division.
Age limit : 28 years
